The smell of frosting, the squishing of cake between their fingers, that first sweet bite; hold back those tears ,your baby is already one! This is definitely one of the messier but fun photo shoots I offer here in San Diego. This cake was supplied by Simply Sifted to make this first birthday cake smash extra yummy. They do a fantastic job of not only making beautiful cakes, but making them taste delicious. Simply Sifted also offer allergy friendly cakes like the one used here in case your little one can’t have dairy or gluten. For this photo I chose not to have background props because I prefer simple and clean portraits that allow the focus to be on the baby. Using this natural backdrop it really allowed for his bright blue eyes to be the focal point. Cake smashes are all about unrehearsed, un-posed natural shots. In this shoot we had to take Branch put of the picture so baby would dig into the cake. Not too long after Branch had to leave the party his brother joined. Big brother could not stand by and watch his little brother get all the yummy cake so he stripped down and helped him self to a piece of cake. It is unfiltered moments like these that make special one of a kind photographs. One of the things I love most about this photo shoot was watching this little guy’s excitement escalate, you can see it in that smile.
